🎭 Competition Categories & Eligibility

We've designed four distinct categories so every cosplayer—from first-timers to masters—has a fair shot at glory:

🏆 Solo Novice

Perfect for: First-time competitors and cosplayers with less than 2 years of competition experience.

This is your welcoming entry point! Judges focus on creativity, passion, and potential—so don't worry if your armor isn't 100% screen-accurate. Show us your love for the character and your unique creative vision.

🏆 Solo Masters

Perfect for: Experienced cosplayers with 2+ years of competition history or previous award winners.

Bring your A-game! This category showcases jaw-dropping craftsmanship, complex builds, and show-stopping stage presence. Think LED-integrated armor, hand-embroidered fabrics, and props that defy gravity.

👥 Group Division (2–6 Members)

Gather your crew! Group performances dazzle with synchronized choreography, elaborate skits, and the incredible energy of collaborative creativity. Whether you're the Avengers assembling or a Genshin Impact squad, bring that team magic to the main stage.

🌟 Open Showcase (Non-Competitive)

Not ready to compete? No worries! Strut your stuff in our non-judged showcase parade. It's all about celebrating the craft, getting photos, and feeling that main-stage energy without the pressure.

Eligibility: Open to all attendees with valid SGCC 2026 tickets. Participants must be 13+ for Solo categories, and groups must have at least one member 18+ as team lead. International cosplayers welcome—Southeast Asia's community spans borders!

💡 Pro Tips: What Judges Look For

First-time competitor nerves? We've got you covered. Here's what separates finalists from the rest:

🧵 Craftsmanship Counts

Judges examine seam finishes, material choices, and construction techniques. Clean edges, reinforced stress points, and creative material usage (recycled EVA foam, 3D printing, LED integration) all score major points. Document your process—those WIP photos matter!

🎭 Stage Presence is Everything

You have 90 seconds to captivate thousands. Practice your walk, poses, and any choreography until it's muscle memory. Make eye contact with the audience, project confidence (even if you're trembling!), and become your character.

📱 Document Your Journey

Our community lives on social media! Share your #SGCC2026Cosplay progress on Instagram Reels and TikTok transformation videos. Tag @SingaporeComicCon—we feature our favorite builds weekly, and judges often scope socials for rising talent!

"Don't compare your Chapter 1 to someone else's Chapter 20. The Novice category exists for a reason—we're looking for passion, growth, and heart. Bring that, and you'll shine."
— Lexi Strange, SGCC 2026 Judge

🌟 Success Stories: From SGCC Stage to Stardom

Past SGCC cosplay champions have gone on to incredible achievements—proving this competition is a true launchpad:

🏅 Rei "Razor" Chen — SGCC 2023 Novice Winner

"I entered SGCC 2023 with a homemade Venti costume—my first competition ever. The crowd's energy, the judge feedback, and connecting with fellow cosplayers changed everything. Now I judge local competitions and run a cosplay tutorial channel with 50K followers. SGCC was my spark!"

🏅 Team Lunar Knights — SGCC 2024 Group Champions

"We were five strangers from Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand who met online. Our Genshin Impact group cosplay won Group Division, and now we're a sponsored cosplay team traveling to conventions across Southeast Asia. The networking at SGCC was priceless—we found our people!"

🏅 Aiden Wu — SGCC 2022 Masters Champion → WCS Representative

"Winning SGCC Masters led to representing Singapore at the World Cosplay Summit in Japan. That stage prepared me for international competition—the lighting, the audience, the pressure. SGCC doesn't just host a competition; it trains champions."
